To cut a photo taken with an iPhone vertically without rotating

Iphone took a horizontal photo, you may regret that you should have vertically try to review later. On the other hand, if the photograph taken in the vertical is made a composition of the horizontal, it regrets it. Rotating 90 degrees is one way, but the way the subject looks tends to be unnatural.

In such a case, i will do the trimming in the edit function of the photo app. If you take a landscape photo on the iPhone 11, it will cut out a portion of the horizontal 2,260× vertical 3,014 pixels from 4,032 x 3,024 pixels wide. Although it involves the format conversion from HEIC to JPEG, there is no unnatural composition as you see it. You don’t have to worry about the aspect ratio, you can save it as a landscape/subject you’ve seen.

The procedure is simple. In the Photos app, open the photo in edit mode and tap the Rotate/Crop button at the bottom of the screen. Tap the aspect ratio button that appears in the upper right corner of the screen, tap “Original”, and then tap the vertical of the display button in the center of the screen. Then tap the check button in the lower right corner of the screen to save the cropped photo while it is displayed on the screen.

In addition, when cropped with an aspect ratio that matches the display of the iPhone, you can reproduce the atmosphere at the time of shooting well. IPhone 5 and later models are basically 16:9 length: horizontal, so if you choose “9:16” when trimming, you’re OK. The display after the iPhone XS has been changed to 19:9 and vertical, although the nuances are slightly different, the atmosphere should be close.
