Mr. Kurokawa resigned as “the responsibility of the Cabinet” Representative Edano May 22 15:42
Representative Edano of the Constitutional Democratic Party criticized the resignation of Hiroyuki Kurokawa, director of the Tokyo High Prosecutor’s Office, in a declaration of emergency, saying that he felt no responsibility for the cabinet as a whole.
Hiroyuki Kurokawa, director of the Tokyo High Prosecutor’s Office, submitted his resignation this month, acknowledging that he had been gambling with a newspaper reporter, amid a continuing demand for a state of emergency.
At the party’s meeting, Representative Edano criticized the party’s overall responsibility for the cabinet as a whole, even though it was very different from mere appointment responsibilities, given that Mr. Kurokawa’s retirement age had been extended in January, “people who went out of their way to make cabinet decisions, changed the interpretation of conventional laws, and extended their retirement age by saying that they had replaced the surplus.”
He also stated that the Ministry of Justice and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have a great responsibility for allowing him to resign while not fully grasping the facts themselves, and he expressed his intention to continue to pursue the responsibility of the government.
