The Tokyo foreign exchange market and the yen rose somewhat.
As of 5 p.m., the yen was 46 sen from 107 yen 45 sen, which was 32 yen higher than the 21st.

Against the euro, compared to the 21st, the yen was 21 sen from 117 yen 17 sen, which was 2 yen higher than the euro.

The euro was $1.0904 to $05 against the dollar.

Market officials said, “There is widespread concern that relations with the United States will deteriorate as Beijing has set out a policy of enacting laws directly to maintain security in Hong Kong, where protests continue at the National People’s Congress in China today. For this reason, the yen, which is considered a relatively safe asset, was bought against the major currencies.”
