The declaration of emergency based on the Special Measures Act for the Corona Virus Virus Act has been issued to Tokyo and other metropolitan prefectures and Hokkaido, and the government has decided to determine whether it can be lifted.

Prior to this, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, at the Prime Minister’s Office, with Chief Cabinet Secretary Kan, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, and Minister for Economic Revitalization Nishimura, received a report on the new number of infected people in the region and the system of medical provision, and discussed the response.

In response to this, the government decided to clarify the emergency declaration, and consult the advisory committee to open the situation in the tokyo metropolitan area, in addition to the decrease in the number of new infected people, as well as the improvement of the medical provision system. As a result, the state of emergency declaration, which had been issued since July 7 last month, is expected to be completely lifted.

The government has decided to formally cancel these policies at the Measures Headquarters after hearing the views of the Advisory Committee and reporting and questioning them at the Steering Committee of the House of Representatives.
