Opposition parties, including the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, have decided to hold a meeting of party leaders on The 30th, saying that there are a lot of issues to be discussed in the Diet, such as the spread of the new coronavirus infection and response to heavy rain disasters, and then call for an extraordinary Session of the Diet to be convened on The 31st based on the provisions of the Constitution.
The leaders of the four opposition parties- the Constitutional Democratic Party, the National Democratic Party, the Communist Party, and the Social Democratic Party met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Friday night at the speaker of the House of Representatives.

Among them, the party leaders expressed that an extraordinary Diet session should be convened at an early stage, saying that there were a lot of issues to be discussed in the Diet, such as the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the response to the heavy rain disaster.

Opposition parties, including the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, will hold a meeting with party leaders on March 30 to request that an extraordinary Diet session be convened in accordance with Article 53 of the Constitution, and will submit a request to Chairman Oshima on March 31.

In response, within the government and the ruling party, there are negative opinions on the early convocation, such as the LDP’s chairman of the Diet, Mr. Moriyama, who said, “It is not yet clear what will be discussed in the extraordinary Diet session,” and talks are expected to take place.
