Notes on Obon Homecoming Thinking to Ask Opinions on Subcommittee Nishimura Economic Revitalization Minister August 2 19:54

At a press conference regarding the Corona Virus antivirus, Minister for Economic Revitalization Nishimura held a subcommittee of the government this week to ask experts for their opinions on things to be aware of when going home, saying that the infection could spread to the elderly due to the return home during Obon.
Mr. Nishimura, Minister for Economic Revitalization, exchanged views with the governors of the three prefectures of Saitama, Chiba, and Fukuoka, where the number of infected people is increasing, by telephone on February 2, and reiterated his intention to support prefectures in order to secure accommodation facilities such as hotels where people without symptoms and light people are recuperating.

He also made it clear that he had started talks between Okinawa Prefecture and jica-Japan International Cooperation Agency, which has facilities in Okinawa Prefecture, and said, “Okinawa is also a tourist season, and we hope to support you so that there is no pressure on the sickbed and medical provision system in case it is difficult to secure a hotel.”

On the other hand, Minister Nishimura said, “If you go to the countryside with your family and eat in the same environment as the elderly, you have to be careful because the infection may spread from asymptomatic young people and children to the elderly,” and expressed the idea of asking experts for opinions on precautions and countermeasures when going home this week.
