LDP President-general Kishida, Chairman of the Political Research Committee, “Don’t Give Up until the End” August 31, 8:50 p.m.
Mr. Kishida, who has shown a willingness to run for the LDP presidential election to replace Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, held a press conference on March 31 next month before publishing a book out of his own political initiatives.
In response to the wider support for Chief Cabinet Secretary Naoto Kan over the presidential election, Mr. Kishida said, “I think we are in a difficult environment. It is basic that you should not give up the battle until the end, and you have to keep fighting even in the headwinds. Based on the changes in the situation, I would like to find a way out by continuing to work hard.”
In connection with the request of mid-tier and young lawmakers to hold a vote on members of the party, Mr. Kishida said, “It is important to raise the voices of many of you through party membership votes and other issues. I want you to consider it as much as possible.”
