Foreign Minister Mogi, who belongs to the Takeshita faction of the second faction in the party over the LDP presidential election to choose Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s successor, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso, who is also the chairman of the Aso faction of the second faction, for about 30 minutes at the Ministry of Finance on the evening of March 31.
In this context, the two sides exchanged opinions on the latest situation of each faction, including the spread of support for Chief Cabinet Secretary Naoto Kan, who has firmed up their candidacy.

We confirmed that we will continue to communicate with each other in the future.

While the Takeshita faction has been calling for the candidacy of Mr. Mogi, who serves as chairman by a young member of the House of Representatives, some members of the House of Councillors have been cautious and executives are considering a response.
