JR East to raise the last train in the Tokyo metropolitan area for about 30 minutes next spring

JR East has decided to increase the time of the last train for routes in the Tokyo metropolitan area by about 30 minutes from next spring. We want to improve the working environment for workers by securing time for maintenance and inspection of railway lines, etc. after the last train.
Depending on the parties concerned, the target is the Yamanote Line, which operates after 1:00 a.m. on routes in the Tokyo metropolitan area, as well as the Chuo Line and Sobu Line.

In according with the timetable revision of next spring, it is a policy to increase the time of the last train for about 30 minutes, and this means that we are going to reduce the number of services in the late night band.

We are also considering slowing down the first train on some routes.

JR East was considering raising the system to improve the working environment for workers by securing time for maintenance and inspection operations such as railway lines after the last train.

With regard to the final train, JR West has also decided to increase the time of the last train on the main routes in the Kansai area by up to 30 minutes from next spring.
