Heavy Rain 2 Months Popular Anime Stage Model Nishisebashi Reopening Kumamoto Hitoyoshi September 4 11:55
On the 4th, two months after the record-breaking downpour, Nishisebashi Bridge in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, where part of the bridge was leaked due to flooding of the Kuma River, was completed and traffic resumed.
Nishisebashi in Hitoyoshi City is also known as a model for popular anime depicting interactions between boys and youkai, and was visited by fans from all over the country, but part of the bridge was washed away by the flooding of the Kuma River caused by heavy rains.
The restoration work to put the bridge of the temporary iron plate on the washed-out part was completed, and the passage resumed from the 4th which became two months from the heavy rain, and local elementary school students went to school across the bridge immediately.
A sixth-grade girl attending a nearby elementary school said, “It was a bridge I had crossed since I was in first grade, so I was very shocked when I was washed away. I was relieved to be able to pass again.”
A man in his 40s who lives in the neighborhood said, “This bridge is an indispensable road for daily life, and it was very inconvenient if I couldn’t pass through it. I’m really glad that the bridge was able to pass.”
