At the site in Shiiba Village, Miyazaki Prefecture, where houses and other buildings were washed away by heavy rain caused by Typhoon No. 10, the whereabouts of four construction company officials were lost.

The search began before 7 a.m. on August 8 with 260 people, including police and local fire brigades, and was carried out near the site as well as in the waters below the river where sediment flowed in.

After dark, it was continued until 8 p.m. using the lights, but it was not found, and the police and fire department decided to resume the search from 7 a.m. on the 9th.
