The new president of the Liberal Democratic Party, Kan, has confirmed his intention to appoint Katsunobu Kato, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of the Takeshita faction, as Chief Cabinet Secretary.
Mr. Kato was elected to the 5th district of Okayama in the House of Representatives six times and is 64 years old.
I belong to the Takeshita faction of the Liberal Democratic Party.
Originally from the Ministry of Finance, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 2003 after working as a secretary to his father-in-law, former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, In June.
He has served as Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary and Minister in charge of 100 million total activities, and after he was appointed Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare three years ago, he became the party’s general secretary.
And, it was appointed to the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare again in the Cabinet reshuffle last year, and it has worked on the correspondence to the new coronavirus.
His father-in-law, Mr. June, is an ally of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s father, former Foreign Minister Shintaro Shintaro, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Mr. Kato are also known for their old friends.
Mr. Kan is expected to impress the succession of the Abe administration by appointing Mr. Kato, who is close to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and is well-regarded in a wide range of fields, including the administration of health, labor and welfare, and has the goal of stabilizing the administration of the government.
