Japan Meteorological Agency’s website private advertisement to stop running in one day September 16 11:58
An unusual effort as a central ministry is suspended in just one day.
The Japan Meteorological Agency started running private advertisements on its website on the 15th, but it was found that inappropriate ads were running that might violate certain standards, and the ads stopped running just before 10:00 a.m. on the 16th.
The Japan Meteorological Agency began publishing private advertisements on its website on the 15th to cover a portion of the cost of operating the website.
According to the standards established by the Japan Meteorological Agency, anything that contains inappropriate content that violates the law or misides it as a fact cannot be displayed, but since we started advertising at 2 p.m. on the 15th, we have found ads that may violate this standard.
NHK’s coverage confirmed several advertisements that may violate the Pharmaceutical Advertising Act, etc.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has taken the initiative to remove these ads individually, but has stopped running ads on its website since 9:58 a.m. on May 16, as inappropriate ads may continue to run.
Currently, you can only see the “ad frame” display.
As a central ministry, unusual efforts have been suspended in just one day.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says, “We are currently investigating how ads that may violate the standards were posted.”
Concerns about inappropriate advertising have been pointed out for some time, and Japan Meteorological Agency Chief Yasuo Sekida said at a press conference in July that “we will rule out ads that are not suitable for the country’s website from the beginning.”
