Meeting between the Secretary-General and the Chairman of the Committee The Kan Cabinet agreed to continue cooperation September 16 at 11:38 p.m.
In response to the inauguration of the Kan Cabinet, the secretary-generals of both the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komeito Party and the chairman of the Diet measures committee met and ad agree that the two parties would continue to work together to support the administration.
The meeting was held at a hotel in Tokyo on the evening of the 16th, and Secretary-General Nikai and Chairman Moriyama of the Liberal Democratic Party attended by Secretary General Saito and Chairman of the Diet Measures Committee Takagi from the New Komeito Party.
In this report, the two parties confirmed that they would continue to work together to support the administration after the inauguration of the Kan Cabinet, as it was necessary to continue to work on measures such as the Corona Virus antivirus, after evaluating that the seven years and eight months of the second Abe administration had significant results in both national and diplomatic affairs.
As before, executives from both parties will meet once a week to discuss the administration of the Diet.
After the meeting, Mr. Moriyama explained to reporters that there had been no talk of when the current Diet session would convene an extraordinary session after it closed on the 18th.
On that basis, he said, “It is quite difficult if the new economic partnership agreement between Japan and the United Kingdom has not yet reached a formal agreement and we do not know when the proposal will be approved,” and he indicated that he would judge the timing of the call by assessing the status of the drafting of the proposal for approval of the agreement.
