Team Overview

The Portfolio Compliance Monitoring team (PCG) is a global team within Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) at BlackRock where we are responsible for the oversight and control of the pre and post trade investment restriction monitoring for BlackRock’s clients and funds globally. The team fulfills this mission primarily by extracting, analyzing, coding and monitoring client, regulatory and internal investment guidelines on the firm’s Aladdin system. We are engaged with and provide innovative services to many other departments and functions across the firm, including: portfolio management, client services , trading, technology, operations and legal.

Role Responsibility

Responsibilities are dynamic, but typically include:

Key Responsibilities:

Researching and resolving pre-trade compliance exceptions raised on Aladdin Dashboard

Contacting stakeholders to establish whether pre-trade compliance exception are valid

Determining if the violations can be overridden based on research, if not contacting the portfolio managers or trader to advise them to withdraw the order or trade

Communicating exceptions to relevant groups via this medium. In certain circumstances this may also be supported with emailed reports. Daily post-trade compliance exceptions are also managed via the Aladdin Dashboard

Reviewing Day 1 post-trade exceptions and based on research either close the violation or allocate it to stakeholders via Aladdin dashboard

Becoming acquainted with BlackRock’s various Aladdin applications, trade flow process, and data environment

Crafting new system rules, improving existing compliance coding, and investigating or troubleshooting potential errors when needed

Participating in efficiency and improvement initiatives by providing ideas and suggestions on possible improvements to systems or processes

Leading or handling strategic projects and initiatives

Knowledge / Experience:

College graduates with a background in information technology, science, finance or similar fields are preferred. Knowledge of financial instruments and markets is helpful. Although not required, knowledge of programming languages ​​(such as Visual Basic, C ++, or Java) and an understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) are beneficial. Business proficiency in both Japanese and English are required.
