The essay, which popular author Mariko Hayashi has been serializing in a weekly magazine for 37 years, has been recognized by Guinness World Records as “the highest number of essays published in the same magazine.”
Mariko Hayashi began writing an essay called “I’m Alone” in “Weekly Bunshun” in 1983, and 37 years later, she continues to write a series titled “Night Wipes.”

According to Bunjo Shunshu, the series reached 1669 times in the issue released on The 15th, and 1655 times as of July 2 was recognized by Guinness World Records as “the highest number of essays published in the same magazine”.

The certificate was handed to him on the 10th of this month at a special exhibition that looks back on Hayashi’s achievements in Kofu City.

There were times when it was hard because I didn’t have any essay material, but I’m happy that I was able to continue it for 37 years. I would like to express my gratitude to all the readers who supported me and the editorial department for their support. I’d like to take care of my health and continue the series for another 20 years or so.”
