In a house in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, the owner became a state of so-called “multi-head breeding collapse” that prevented the owner from taking care of more than 160 dogs, and animal welfare groups carried the dogs to the public health center. Officials are looking for new owners in the future.

According to the Animal Protection Organization “Animal Fund” in Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, in August, a family of men in Izumo City asked me if I could not take care of them, and when I checked the house, there were more than 160 dogs, and I was in a state of so-called “multi-head breeding collapse” that I could not take care of.

Today, staff from several animal welfare organizations visited the man’s house and took his dog in a basket to a public health center in Izumo City.

The dogs have had infertility surgery and are returned to their owners, and health centers and local animal rights groups are looking for new owners.

In general households that are not breeders, there are few cases where “multi-head breeding collapse” of more than 100 dogs has been confirmed.

Norimasa Nishihara of the Shimane Animal Welfare Network, one of the organizations that carried them to the public health center, said, “The health of dogs is relatively good and reassuring. In the future, I would like to work with volunteers from all over the country to transfer dogs so that they can lead a happy second life.”
