Nagano Prefecture to sell high-end official car “Century” Governor’s emphasis on function November 11 11:51
Nagano Prefecture has decided to list the Century, a luxury car used as an official car, on an auction site on the Internet in February next year, as criticism has been raised over the expensive official cars of local governments.
As for the official car of the municipality, there has been criticism that the cost of leasing of the luxury car “Century” adopted in Hyogo Prefecture is high, and last month, the governor of Hyogo Prefecture, Ido, indicated that he would consider including other models in the next contract renewal six years later.
On the other hand, in Nagano Prefecture, the same “Century” was purchased by the prefectural governor’s department for 11.34 million yen in 2000, and it has been used as one of the official vehicles of each department director so far, but in response to criticism in Hyogo Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture has received several inquiries about the reasons for its use.
In addition, “Century” owned by Nagano Prefecture is less frequently used than other official cars, 20 years have passed since its purchase, and since the expiration date of the inspection will expire next month, we decided to let it go and list it on an auction site on the Internet in February next year.
Governor Abe of Nagano Prefecture said, “It was reported that it is owned in Nagano Prefecture, and we received inquiries from prefectural residents. We made a comprehensive decision because it was less frequently used and it was important to focus on functionality.”
