Two men and a woman in a passenger car were taken to the hospital with their heads hit.
Yamaguchi Prefecture and other prefectures are investigating the cause of the step by completely closed the Kamiseki Bridge.
Kaminoseki Bridge was opened 51 years ago in 1969 and is the only bridge connecting Honshu, which is about 220 meters long, with Nagashima, home to more than 1,300 people.
As there is no hope of restoration, Kamiseki-cho has decided to secure transportation by temporarily operating a ferry to transport the townspeople.
