A large amount of clams on the coast of Kukirihama, Chiba “Don’t take it home” November 18, 12:35 p.m.
Since the middle of this month, a large number of clams have been found washed up on the shore of Kuzurihama in Chiba Prefecture. The cause is not known, but the local fishing cooperative calls on the general public not to take it home without permission in order to protect the fishing ground.
According to the fishing cooperative in Kusunri-cho, Chiba Prefecture, it is said that a large amount of clams have been found washed up on the shore of Kusunrihama in the morning from around the 10th of this month.
On the morning of the 18th, a large number of clams were washed up all around the beach at the time of the waves, and about 15 local fishermen gathered to check the situation.
Fishing rights have been set throughout Kusosatohama, and clams are prohibited from being served by the general public without permission, but some fishing cooperatives have called for the coast to be patrolled and not to take clams without permission.
According to the fishing cooperative, this phenomenon is likely to occur in a range of more than 10 kilometers in the surrounding area.
In addition, according to the Chiba Prefectural Fisheries Research Center, cases of large amounts of shellfish are reported every few years, but the cause is not known.
The launched clams are protected by fishing cooperatives and returned offshore.
A local man who visits the beach on a daily walk said, “It is often launched in the past when the sea is rough due to typhoons, but it has been launched every day for about a week.”
I’m worried about the decrease in the amount of clams.
Kusosatohama is one of the major production areas for clams, and local fishing cooperatives are particularly working on branding clams that can be taken from November as “Kusosatochi Maguri.”
According to fishermen, at this time of year, it is sold for about 1500 yen per kilometer at the direct sales office, but since the middle of this month, the amount of clams that can be taken in offshore fishing areas has decreased, so the people concerned are worried about the mysterious phenomenon.
