Peatix, which sells tickets online, revealed that unauthorized external access leaked up to 6.77 million information, including users’ names, email addresses and passwords. This may include purchasers of meal tickets sold by Utsunomiya City to support restaurants.
The leak of personal information was revealed by Peatix, which is headquartered in the U.S. and sells tickets online and introduces events.

According to the announcement, on the 9th of this month, it was found that there is a risk that the user’s information has been pulled out. The study found that from 16th to 17th last month, there was unauthorized external access and up to 6.77 million information was withdrawn, including personal information such as the user’s name, email address, and encrypted password. The leak of credit card information, address and phone number has not been confirmed.

According to Utsunomiya City, this may include more than 11,000 people who purchased premium meal tickets sold by the city from June to September in order to support restaurants cause of the deteriorating management due to the new coronavirus.

The company takes measures to increase security and asks users to reset their passwords.
