APEC Summit Opens After 9:00 p.m. in Online Format November 20 at 8:36 PM
The APEC-Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit will be held in online format on the evening of the 20th. The focus will be on whether countries can work together to recover from the severe economic conditions caused by the new coronavirus.
The APEC summit, which will be attended by 21 countries and regions surrounding the Pacific Ocean, including Japan, the United States and China, will be held in online format from 9:00 p.m. on the 20th of Japan time.
According to the Malaysian government of the chair, the economic growth rate in the FIRST half of the APEC region has been negative for the first time in 30 years due to the spread of the new coronavirus, and countries are facing severe economic conditions, such as an increase in unemployment.
At the summit meeting, opinions will be exchanged on measures to soften the impact of the new virus on the economy and health, with the aim of adopting the Leaders’ Declaration, which will included the results of the meeting.
President Trump of the United States is also expected to attend the meeting, and attention will be paid to what President Trump, who has advocated his country’s first principles, will make about anti-virus and multilateral trading systems.
The APEC summit was held the day before yesterday due to a conflict of opinion between the United States and China over trade, and last year the meeting itself was against the meeting due to domestic turmoil in Chile, the chair country, and it has been an unusual situation in which the leaders’ declaration cannot be issued for two years in a long time.
For this reason, the focus of this summit meeting will be on whether countries can work together to recover from the severe economic conditions of the Corona Virus.
