Asahikawa City, Hokkaido announced that a total of 40 infections have been confirmed, the most so far, including a new coronavirus cluster = a new population of infected people at Asahikawa Welfare Hospital in the city.

Since the infection of one nurse who complained of sore throat was confirmed for 20 days, PCR tests such as patients and staff who had suspected contact were carried out, and a total of 28 infections of 16 patients and 12 staff members were newly confirmed in the two wards.

All 29 people, including one nurse who was first confirmed infected, are mild or asyndted.

Asahikawa Welfare Hospital is a general hospital with approximately 500 beds and is one of five hospitals in the city that accept patients with covid-19.

Asahikawa Welfare Hospital has stopped accepting outpatients and inpatients in principle since August 22, 2019.
