Mitsuru Matsuoka, in his 40s, interested in moving on weekends “A space where you can spend time in nature”

Mitsuru Matsuoka, a vocalist and actor of rock bands SOPHIA and MICHAEL, will appear on BS Nippon Television’s variety show “Superb! Three-Star Camp Season 2” (starting on the 12th, every Tuesday from 21:00). He talked about his enthusiasm for the program with the theme of “weekend migration.” Mitsuru Matsuoka = Provided by BS Nippon Television-What made you become interested in emigration on weekends? It’s been 25 years since I started working as an artist. It may seem surprising from the aspect of being a rock vocalist, but I was born in Osaka and spent my childhood in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and grew up in Kansai when I was a teenager in middle and high school. In an environment where fields and the sea are nearby, insect catching and fishing were the main activities of my childhood. After moving to Tokyo with the aim of making a major debut with a band, there were times when I was far from nature and didn’t know how to spend time outside of artist activities and work. When I was in my 40s and thought about my future life, I came to want to create a space where I could spend time in nature. ――How did you feel when you first heard about this project? It was exactly a “ship to cross” (laughs). I was thinking about actually searching for a property so that I could incorporate weekend migration into my own private life, and the property in Chiba, which will be the stage for this time, is ideal! It was a big point for me to be able to enjoy my favorite golf right next to me, but even if it isn’t, there is an environment where you can enjoy a bonfire right away, surrounded by nature and in front of the fields. I can’t think of it in Tokyo, and I thought that the environment where you can take a deep breath in the sun is a very blessed environment in this corona bonfire. I’m not a DIY / camping / outdoor specialist, so I don’t think I have much knowledge or can’t proceed smoothly, but I want to make the most of the creativity I have cultivated through my artist activities. ――What kind of space do you want to create? The theme for participating in this program is “creating a space where you can forget time.” Decorate your room by remaking something that was familiar to you in the good old Showa era, or try incorporating something that you can feel nature indoors even though it is an old folk house in the countryside that is already surrounded by nature. I want to enjoy this old folk house project while feeling the changes of the four seasons. A room where you can talk with your friends on your way home from golf, a space for planning works such as songwriting, a space where you can customize golf clubs, fishing equipment, motorcycles, cars, etc. to your heart’s content … Your dreams will expand. Anyway, we aim to be a place where adults can spend time immersing themselves in what they like! (C) BS Nippon Television
