Role in Summary

This is a leadership role and will the successful candidate needs to have a strategic mindset and the ability to confer and influence outcomes with the senior leadership of the HPE Japan organization. The role will report to the General Manager of APJ Digital Demand Center. This role will be the single point of contact for all marketing related topics beyond Digital as well, and hence, will act as the overall marketing leader for Japan with a dotted line relationship to the Japan HPE MD. Being the overall leader, all marketing investments in Japan including HPE MDF co-marketing program will be a part of this job scope.

Co-marketing is a critical part of our overall Channel Program. This job entails being the owner for all co-marketing aspects, starting from planning to execution and measurement of results. Some of the key outcomes are as follows.

Overall Remit

Drive end-to-end digital demand motion across all aspects of locally available paid media (search, social, direct, and programmatic) to generate Marketing Generated Opportunity MGO and Marketing Generated Revenue MGR in strategic areas of the business, across all routes to market , while maximizing HPE’s digital buying power

Necessary Skills:

  • Digital marketing skillset; Digital certification a plus, if not a demonstrated understanding of the various pillars of digital (paid, programmatic, social, and search)
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven mindset
  • Able to move quickly in assessing data and tune media and / or channel investments for maximum impact

Primary Organizational Linkages:

  • Sales: To manage bilateral SLAs and drive conversion metrics
  • Media CoE: To support planning and / or select activation
  • Web Team: To understand and influence E2E nurture flows
  • Overall leadership role for marketing in Japan

  • Pipeline and Revenue ROI for overall business and strategic areas of the business

Key Decision Right (s):

  • Allocation of digital media budget across tactics for select markets, with telemarketing budget as support motion
  • Planning and execution of channel marketing campaigns, in accordance with Global Partner MDF (Market Development Funds) instruction

Responsibilities

  • Full authority and accountability to determine HPEs presence across digital media channels to drive pipeline, awareness, engagement and other ROI metrics across all HPE routes to market
  • Strategic marketing outlook which includes the overall business objectives and translates the same into a marketing plan that is aligned with the overall business directions
  • Strong people management skills and ability to leverage a matrix organization in order to deliver the right outcomes for the HPE business in Japan
  • Drive and meet HPE marketing led pipeline and closed won business targets. Ensure healthy utilisation of MDF $ and all other marketing investments in Japan
  • Develop and enhance close working relationships with local and global venfors including intervention that can support the Japan business and contribute to the Japan media plan. This includes managing a successful partnership with anu existing marketing services intervention (MSA)
  • Track and advice on HPE messaging and campaigns marketing assets. Oversee localisations.
  • Liaise closely with the Aruba and HPEFS marketing contacts, representing the Japan region and bring the overall value proposition for HPE to life
  • Telemarketing for qualification of leads and generation of new pipeline
  • Work and collaborate closely with top selected HPE Channel Partners, ISVs, Alliance Partners, SPs and HPE channel team on strategy and joint business planning for MDF
  • Ensure high quality country plans are submitted timely for approval and execution
  • Ensure that MDF are appropriately and fully utilized with a strong posture on controls and adherence to guidelines
  • Drive the adoption & usage of marketing tools (Syndication, SoMe, PS Now, Concierge, Nav Guide, Operations Dashboards etc.)
  • Responsible for overall employee marketing team satisfaction as reflected in the annual Voice of the Workforce
  • Continuously innovate and bring to the table new marketing execution ideas and campaign suggestions which reflect the trends that are shaping our industry

  • Be a custodian for equality, inclusion and diversity in all actions that HPE Japan marketing takes

Qualifications

  • Business Analyst (BA) or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related business fields is mandatory; Master of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
  • 12+ of years marketing experience with a minimum of 3 years in Digital Marketing
  • People management skills and experience is mandatory (Min 5 years)
  • Experience in leading the marketing function or sub-function for an IT organization in Japan
  • Partner or Enterprise sales, industry or channel experience in the IT industry will be a plus
  • Co-marketing experience and experience in conducting and managing channel marketing investments will be desirable but not mandatory

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Deep understanding of Digital Marketing principles
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing principles, practices, tactics and tools
  • Experience in developing and driving strong outcome-oriented relationships with partners
  • Excellent written / oral communications and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to thrive in matrix environments and work effectively within virtual teams
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with vendors of HPE
  • Ability to interface effectively with different levels of management and functional stakeholders in HR, Finance, procurement and related functions
  • Local Japanese language proficiency
  • Good communication skills in both Japanese and English language
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-country and diverse business environment
