Google Cloud seems to have hired former SAP executive Gerrit Kazmaier as general manager for database, data analytics, and Looker. It is considered to be part of the move to integrate the data business. Kazmaier will start working at Google on April 5, and will report to Google Fellow Urs Holzle, senior vice president of technical infrastructure at the company. Database engineering vice president Andi Gutmans, data analytics general manager Debanjan Saha, and Looker general manager Ronaldo Ama appear to report to Kazmaier. Google Cloud is hiring talent from major enterprise software companies such as SAP and Oracle to strengthen its expertise for specific industries. Until very recently, Kazmaier was President of SAP HANA & Analytics, leading the company’s database and data warehousing and analytics-related global products, solutions and engineering teams. He was also the vice president of SAP Analytics Cloud. His work at SAP was to enable customers to share and leverage data across the organization. He said in a post on LinkedIn on February 1 that he would leave SAP. “I’m guiding the question,’How can this help customers?’ And’How can this help people working in this organization?'” There is. He thanked SAP and said he would pursue new career opportunities.
