Microsoft has revealed that the number of daily active users (DAU) of the group collaboration platform “Microsoft Teams” has reached 145 million. This is a significant increase from the 115 million people reported in October 2020. The company announced its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2021 on April 27, US time.

Microsoft explained that the growing need for remotework due to the corona wreck was a major driver of Teams’ rapid growth.Corporate Vice President Jeff Teper said on the same day about Teams’ latest DAUTweetdid. The figures are as of the end of March, which is the closing date for the third quarter of 2021. Teams is part of Microsoft’s “commercial cloud” category and appears to be in the sales category for commercial “Office” products and cloud services. Teams was developed as a platform for group chat, but Microsoft has gradually expanded its features and characteristics as if it were closer to a product like an operating system. Microsoft has announced further collaboration between Teams and various services, including Dynamics 365. Dynamics 365 sales in the third quarter were up 45% year-over-year.
