Job offer: Technical Manager in Tokyo with Red Hat

Job summary

The Red Hat Asia Pacific (APAC) Office of Technology (AoT) team is looking for a Technical Product Marketing Manager for Red Hat Openshift and related offerings to join us in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will support the Red Hat Sales and Presales teams primarily with a technical and evangelist focus and provide support to presales on technical queries. In addition, you will work closely on opportunities with the Sales team in pursuit of new customers, strategic partners, and global service integrators (SIs) and help them solve real problems with Red Hat OpenShift. You will be someone who has solid experience in DevOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI / CD), agile software development, and API management. You will work closely with the global product business unit leaders, Japan Sales leadership, and various functional teams to promote a consistent rollout of product releases, product strategy, and management of product life cycle for Red Hat OpenShift in Japan. As a Technical Product Marketing Manager, you will need to have a good balance between technical, business, and program management skills and work in collaboration with your immediate team to support the growth and adoption of your portfolio in Japan. This role will have a fair amount of evening calls with global teams primarily based on the east coast of the US

Primary job responsibilities

  • Provide field sales teams support on complex deals and product management or engineering escalation
  • Provide field sales teams with request for proposal (RFP) support for strategic deals
  • Provide timely and accurate technical responses to presales requests
  • Support presales in engagement and support prospecting in technical evaluations
  • Manage outreach to technical audiences and excite and inspire them with the capabilities of Red Hat OpenShift
  • Support and grow a network of subject matter experts across Japan and provide support during key meetings with customer and partners
  • Engage with technical audiences through presence and active participation at Red Hat and third-party events
  • Build and deliver compelling application demos, technical content, and presentations that demonstrate the value of Red Hat OpenShift for online assets and third-party events
  • Work with the Red Hat OpenShift team and AoT to manage the introduction of major and minor releases and product changes with a holistic and disciplined process across the region
  • Ensure coverage of all areas of the business, including operations, technical readiness, sales readiness, partner programs, training, support, and marketing are fully enabled and aligned to ensure a fast start to enter the market
  • Deliver ongoing reviews and changes as needed in a consistent cadence to continuously streamline and improve effectiveness
  • Coordinate regional communication with headquarters and APAC business unit (BU) product management and marketing team on marketing items and key customer engagements
  • Influence and contribute to sales and presales tool development
  • Assist in competitive situations and provide validated responses
  • Maintain and deliver product updates, roadmaps, and launch briefings in region
  • Coordinate and promote consistent enablement on a quarterly basis and as needed per product launch
  • Amplify key technical aspects of product messages and announcements through modern communication channels eg, blogs, social media etc.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of industry experience in technical sales in a high tech environment with a demonstrated record of success in increasing customer adoption of technology
  • Sound understanding of Containers, DevOps, CI / CD, software development lifecycle, and API management
  • Solid experience with Kubernetes, Containers, Service Mesh technology, Kafka streaming, and more traditional middleware like application servers and API management; solid understanding of the Container and Orchestration landscape
  • Practical intermediate level knowledge of at least one public cloud provider like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Experience with other open source projects like ELK / EFK stack, Spark, Kafka
  • Solid presentation or public speaking experience; actual videos of public speaking eg, on YouTube is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated record of successfully building relationships and developing networks of influence across diverse functions or business areas, identifying commonalities for success, uniting stakeholders with a shared purpose, and successfully using key stakeholders to influence direction
  • Successful record of creating and delivering against a plan incorporating multiple departments and agendas, while facing a variety of challenges and varying agendas, including demonstrating initiative, structured planning, and a results-orientation to be steadfast in pushing forward for results
  • Fluent Japanese and communication skills in English
  • Programming skills in Java, Node.js, and Spring Boot is a plus
  • Experience with high level coding languages ​​for better storytelling of products and solutions is a plus
